Meet the Judges

The winners of the Social Enterprise Awards 2016 are selected by a panel of industry and sector experts who bring a unique perspective to reviewing the 26 finalists.

"It was very pleasing this year to see the growth in the number of applicants as well as the great diversity in the organisations represented. Of particular note this year were the number of applicants in the One to Watch category as well as the introduction of the Women's Impact Award which reflected some great organisations operating in this space,” said Judging Panel Chair and PwC Australia Partner, Simon Gillies.

The members of the Social Enterprise 2016 Judging Panel are:

Simon Gillies, PwC Australia

Simon is a Partner at PwC Australia holding a senior leadership position within the Australian Consulting business. Simon has spent the last twenty years advising leading telecommunication and industrial  clients on key strategy and operations issues. Simon has been active in the Social Enterprise sector  for many years being a Non-Executive Director of Social Traders and  Chairing the Judging Panel for the Australian Social Enterprise Awards since their inception.

Belinda Morrissey, English Family Foundation

Belinda is the Executive Officer of the English Family Foundation, a private family foundation whose vision is to support transformational change in our world through the growth and development of social entrepreneurs and social businesses. They operate to support the sector here in Australia and also throughout South East Asia. Belinda is also a Grantmaking Consultant with Australian Philanthropic Services and is on the Strategic Council of The Climate Institute. 

Catherine Brown, Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation

Catherine Brown is CEO at Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation, a position she has held for the past five years. Catherine is a lawyer with a commitment to community philanthropy. After several years in commercial law, she worked in legal, management and consulting roles within the not-for-profit and philanthropic sectors before she joined the Foundation in 2011. 

Ian O. Williamson, Melbourne Business School

Ian O. Williamson is Associate Dean, International Relations at the Melbourne Business School (Australia). He also serves as Director of the Asia Pacific Social Impact Leadership Centre, where his focus is on developing effective partnerships between business schools, not-for-profit, for profit, philanthropic and government entities to address intractable social issues. 

Luke Geary, Salvos Legal

Luke Geary is Managing Partner of Salvos Legal.  He leads the Corporate & Commercial team which acts for Federal & State government agencies, ASX200 companies, impact financiers, NFPs, and other organisations seeking to make a social impact.  Prior to founding Salvos Legal and Salvos Legal Humanitarian in 2010, Luke was a Partner at national law firm Mills Oakley.
