2013 Winners

The inaugural Social Enterprise Awards were held in 2013, presented by Social Traders and Forresters Community Finance. The awards attracted almost 100 applications from social enterprises across the country, highlighting the breadth and diversity of organisations delivering sustainable social impact.

Prize: $10,000

Connecting Up

Connecting Up is a not-for-profit (NFP) organisation with a mission to build the capacity of the broader NFP community by providing opportunities for NFPs to access technology products and be educated through events and online resources.

Social Enterprise Of The Year (Medium/Large)

Prize: $10,000

Resource Recovery

Resource Recovery provides labour opportunities for the long-term unemployed, early school leavers, Aboriginal communities and ex-offenders. Based in the downturned labour market of Forster and Tuncurry (NSW) Resource Recovery is a 23-year-strong enterprise run by Great Lakes Community Resources (Community Resources).

Youth-Led Social Enterprise Of The Year

Prize: Tickets, Flights And Accommodation To Attend The Skoll World Forum Or The Social Enterprise World Forum

Thank You Water

Thankyou Water sells bottled water products in Australia as a means of funding water projects in developing countries. Every bottle of Thankyou Water provides at least one month of safe drinking water to those in need. The organisation’s social mission is to channel all profits from sales into water projects, as well as making consumers aware of the significant impact they can make through the simple act of purchasing a bottle of water.

Social Enterprise Innovation Award

Prize: Tickets, Flights And Accommodation To Attend The Skoll World Forum Or The Social Enterprise World Forum

STREAT

STREAT provides homeless and disadvantaged youth, aged between 16 and 25, a pathway to employment in hospitality. STREAT’s social mission is to provide meaningful work to vulnerable young people and help facilitate long-term independent living, self-reliance and career advancement.

Social Procurement SE Supporter of the Year

Prize: Respect, Love And Gratitude

The Great Lakes Council (NSW)

The Great Lakes Council (NSW) provides gainful employment to disadvantaged local job seekers through its contracts with Great Lakes Community Resources (Community Resources), a not-for-profit community development association. The Community Resources enterprises that Great Lakes Council engages with provide employment opportunities to those most excluded from the labour market in the areas of waste management, cleaning and Aboriginal art programs.
